Area Update

Yes, we have plenty of snow...the hill is in excellent shape!

SUPER MARILYN SUNDAY: SUNDAY, February 7!!!!!

Our dear Marilyn Cochran Brown is having a rather significant birthday, and YOU are invited to join the celebration! Bring your party hat, musical instrument, and festive spirit!

Congratulations Jimmy Cochran and Nolan Kasper, 2010 Olympians!

Jimmy Cochran's Olympic Send-off/Cochran's Fundraising Spaghetti Dinner is Wednesday, February 10. Seating is limited. Purchase your ticket ($25) in the lodge.

Come check out our improvements both on the hill and in the lodge. We are open Saturday and Sunday 9-4, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 2:30-5 and Friday 2-5. Snowmaking is running full tilt, and we've got excellent coverage from both the T-bar and the Mitey-mite. And we've got new goodies in the snack bar, too.

Need a lesson? Children ages 6 and older and adults can join a group lesson any Saturday or Sunday at 10:00 or 1:00 ($25 plus the cost of the lift ticket & any rental gear). No need to preregister, but please arrive 45 minutes early if you need to rent equipment. We're sorry, but we only do lessons for 3-5 year olds through our Ski Tots series or a prearranged private lesson. For a private lesson, contact Sue Carpenter, 434-4548.  See our programs page for more info.

We now accept credit cards.

Please note, our weekend half day starts at 1:00. We do not offer a morning half day.

Welcome to Cochran's Ski Area

The Cochran family opened their first rope tow in 1961 to provide skiing for their children and neighboring kids during the week. Since then the backyard training area has grown into a challenging ski area with expanded lifts and slopes. But the love and thrill of downhill skiing that started the Cochran's on the road to World Cup and Olympic competition still permeates the Cochran Ski Area, the downhill ski area with the cross-country atmosphere. Friendly people, interesting skiing.

Cochran's Ski Area, Inc. is the nation's first 501(c)3 not-for-profit ski area. Donations help ensure the future of this community resource. We introduce skiing to over 800 local children every year. Fund raising events like the 5th Annual Cochran 100 Bike enable us to keep our prices affordable so every child can have the opportunity to ski or ride.
